Kada je temperatura vazduha vi\u0161a, brzina zvuka je vec\u0301a i obrnuto. Muzi\u010dar je na prvoj probi analizirao dva tona dobijena na orguljama. Frekvencije ovih tonova su bile 523 Hz i 784 Hz. Sledec\u0301eg dana je odr\u017eana druga proba, na kojoj je muzi\u010dar, analizirajuc\u0301i ista dva tona, konstatovao da je razlika u njihovim frekvencijama manja nego prethodnog dana. Tako\u0111e je primetio da je u koncertnoj dvorani ne\u0161to hladnije nego prvog dana, odnosno da je temperatura vazduha ni\u017ea. Ako je poznato da je brzina zvuka u vazduhu na prvoj probi iznosila 345 m\/s, a na drugoj 340 m\/s, odrediti razliku frekvencija pomenutog ni\u017eeg i vi\u0161eg tona na drugoj probi.
